Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) loadshedding 2012
STRANGE are the ways of opera-lion of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). While subjecting the citizens across Maharashtra to loadshedding for long hours, now it has subjected even the Central Government's organization Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) to load-shedding. Registering a strong protest. CPRI has now sought MSEDCL to withdraw eight-hour load-shedding. Citing various reasons, MSEDCL has been continuing load-shedding in one or the other areas of Maharashtra. Vidarbha region produces maximum thermal power but rural areas face load-shedding for long hours.
In Nagpur district also, some areas face load-shedding for eight hours. Energy Minister Ajit Pawar had announced it several times that Maharashtra would become loadshedding free by the end of 2012. But, given the fact that eighth month of the year is approaching its end and still load-shedding has continued for long hours and has resumed in some urban or semi-urban pockets. Leave alone the sufferings of common consumers, MSEDCL has subjected Central Government's organization CPRI to load-shedding for eight long hours.
In fact, registering a strong protest. Additional Director of CPRI Thermal Research Centre at Koradi B H Narayana has written to Superintending Engineer for MSEDCL's Nagpur Rural Circle seeking withdrawal of load-shed ding. The Hitavada' has a copy of the letter in its possession.
In the letter. Narayana has stated that MSEDCL is implementing 'planned load-shedding of 8 hours without any pre-intimation since July 27. 2012.The load-shedding has affected research and testing activities conducted by CPRI Thermal Research Centre 'badly'.
