Transfer of development rights (TDR) scam in NMC (Nagpur Municipal Corporation)  2012

THE transfer of development rights (TDR) scam rocked general body meeting of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Saturday. The opposition cornered BJP city chief and MLA Krishna Khopde in TDR scam at Wathoda. and sought clarification from ruling party over allegations of Dr Yashwant Ambatkar. husband of BJP corporator DrSafalta Ambatkar.

Senior Congress corporator Praful Gudadhe raised the issue aggressively and compelled Mayor Anil Sole to direct Municipal Commissioner to probe all TDR transactions. Ruling party members tried hard to create obstacles during Gudadhe's speech but to no avail. He threw light on alleged TDR scam at Wathoda ME-53. Khasara number 8/1. and modus operendi of Bharat Patel and Sanjay Awchat. close aides of Krishna Khopde and how Town Planning DeparUnent helped them. The department issued TDR without considering objection of original land owner, he alleged. He sought details about loading of TDR.
Leader of Opposition VikasThakre asked ruling party. "Why did Dr Ambatkar demand Rs 25 lakh from doctors? Did she find irregularities in building construction?" Deepak Kapse also sought details regarding allegations of Dr Safalta Ambatkar.
Ruling party members took objection to what Kapse said on the pretext that Dr Ambatkar was not present in the House. Thakre said that the matter merited discussion as people had right to know truth, he said. Rul ing party tried to disturb Congress members, who patiently defused the former's strategy.

Deputy Engineer (Town Planning) Rajesh Bhute said thai Minister of State for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav had sought details of TDR scam. The department had sent him all the information.
Congress corporator Anna Pande ami Shiv Sena leader Bandu Talvckar also participated in the discussion. Dr Prashani Chopra requested Mayor to lake possession of play ground in Rajnagar area.
