RamNavmi Shobhayatra Nagpur 2015 Photos & Moments
Over lakhs of devotees turned out to witness grand shobhayatra taken out by Poddareshwar Mandir in the on Saturday. With the chants of 'Jai Shri Ram', each and every corner of the city's east parts ignited in the fervour of Ram Navami conjuring magical feeling of Ayodhya nagri. As per traditions, city mayor Pravin Datke performed the Puja rituals to mark the begining of the procession. Over 50 attractive tableau embellished with decorations moved around city's prominent places with thousands of participants.
This year's highlight was the grand chariot rally decorated as Garuda (Giant bird) which has significance in both Hinduism and Buddhism.
Amid high profile politicians including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, union minister Nitin Gadkari, district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MP Ajay Sancheti, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, Krishna Khopde, former MP Banwarilal Purohit, former ministers Ramesh Bang, Anees Ahmed, Deenanath Padole among others, the grand procession kickedstarted from Poddareshwar Mandir.
Nothing defines the cultural fabric of Nagpur better than its shobhayatras on Ram Navami day. Ram Navami marks the culmination of Chaitra navratri, the nine days when Ram and Durga are worshipped. It is also the day when Ram was born.
